We Were Moose
The beginnings of the team are rooted back in 1999 when Ben Daniels and Marc Hindman joined the junior league at ERH (Eatontown Roller Hockey). The junior league was eight teams at that time, players under 18, and consisted mostly of high school students. They were put on a team called Cheese and they found that a classmate, Mike Dilione, was on the team. Also, coincidentally, they were put on the team of a fairly average goalie - James Roehrig. The next season the three freshman (all of West Long Branch) formed a team with fellow classmates Geoff Embrey, Jeff Cooperstein, and TJ Maggio (also all of WLB)(and James came, as they needed a goalie). The team picked the name Moose, a name Ben came up with. The first season Mike Dilione was kicked off the team, but they would get more players from their high school, Shore Regional. The Moose would pickup, at various times (never more than 2 of the 3 playing at one time), the OP trio (Oceanport) consisting of Kevin Stevens, John Gallo, and Josh Koval. But the team would also lose Geoff, Jeff, and TJ. After only a couple seasons the Moose conquered the junior league and, with the hockey director's belief of utter failure, entered the tuesday adult league. In their tenure in the tuesday adult league the Moose would loose Marc, but would gain Matt Hunt (a year older and of Oceanport) and later Brian Cerruti (a year younger and of Oceanport). During a short hiatus of the rest of the team playing Ben found Dave Kelley and Tony Toscano. The next season the Moose picked up Dave and after a few seasons the team conquered the tuesday adult league. With the only place to go, the team went up, into the most competitive league at ERH - the Sunday Adult League, once again with absolute skepticism. The last season previous to entering the Sunday Night league the team, made up mostly of players from Oceanport (except Captain Ben Daniels), changed the name to OP Storm while Ben was on vacation. Upon entering the Sunday Adult league the team lost James and also became the Storm. |

We Became Storm
The Storm made their entrance into the Sunday Adult league with a stunning game against the previous season's champions (and Anthony Toscano's team), the Jesters. With 12 seconds left in the game the newest player on the team, Brian Cerruti, scored the goal that tied the game. The Storm ended up missing the playoffs by one win and finished fifth in their first season in the most competitive league at ERH. The following season they were determined not to miss the playoffs again. The Storm was able to clinch a the final playoff spot, but lost in the first round to the first place team in what would be the final Sunday Night season at ERH. During the two seasons the Storm spent in the Sunday league Ben continued with the Moose namesake in the Tuesday Adult league with James Roehrig (the only teenage goalie in any adult league) and other players. That summer of 2002, with the Sunday Adult League cancelled, Brian Cerruti joined Ben's resurrected Moose in the Tuesday Adult league where they met Joey Tietz, a recent graduate from the junior league to the adult league. Even before the team found out that there would no longer be any hockey leagues at ERH they were considering joining the supposedly, and probably, most competitive league at GoodSports USA in Allaire - the High School League. When they did find out about ERH hockey misfortune they decided moving to GoodSports High School League was logical, also because almost the entire team went to the same high school. Ben Daniels was able organize the team for the league in time for the fall 2002 season. Since the team was used to playing with off-sides they played in the 5x5 division with off-sides instead of the 4x4 without off-sides. The started the season with two horrible losses, but the Storm was able to turn it around, taking all three of the season's losses in the first four games and not losing again until the championship game. This season begins the Storm's second season in the GoodSports High School League, with greater hopes and higher expectations. Oh, and by the way the Storm will also destroy the team that calls itself Shore Regional at every meeting, yea, you know who you are.
